Toronto’s multifaceted artist/producer/musical polymath, Harrison, shares a stunning new video for Mustang. The song is from his sophomore album, Apricity, featuring ethereal vox from Talvi of Prince Innocence.

Premiering via BULLY Magazine, Mustang captures the song from a different perspective. The visual was directed by Jon Riera (known for his work with Jazz Cartier, A Tribe Called Red, DVSN).

“The experience of making Mustang was exciting for us because we could re-imagine something that was already out in the world and took a different approach to it. That’s partially what the beginning scene represents,” Jon says of the creative process. “If you were already familiar with the song and you watched the opening scene it seemed like it was going to be regular-degular but then we flipped it and had an opportunity to give you a look into a world you wouldn’t expect.”

“I’ve worked with Jon before so it was a breeze,” Harrison says of their collaboration. “I’m a little camera shy so it was nice having Talvi there, we were using the second half of Mustang, which is all her singing.”

“It was really fun embodying the femme fatale role for Mustang and working with Jon and Harrison on this. I feel like I’m cast in this role a lot, it’s cool that people see me that way and I get to play it,” Talvi adds. “I also love that there’s this portal into another dimension that captures this particular moment and my friendship collaborating with Harry.”

This video was created thanks to the support of the MVP Project, a joint initiative of RBCxMusic and the Prism Prize (administered by the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television).

It has been a big year for Harrison. Following the release of Apricity, he was nominated for two prestigious national awards; a CIMA Award (Canadian Independent Music Association) for the album’s marketing campaign, and 2019 Prism Prize for the video for Your Girl (feat. Ralph), directed by BC-based production house, Ft. Langley. Across the pond, Your Girl was nominated for a  2019 UK MVA under Best Pop Video – newcomer. He’s been busy in the studio working on new material, collaborating with Toronto artists, including production on Sean Leon’s new album and with TOBi on his single, Beige.

In February, Harrison released Apricity Deluxe – a set of five B-sides exclusively via Bandcamp. The bundle features unlimited streaming on Bandcamp, a free digital download of Apricity, an official Fingerboard, and a limited edition 140g, Black Smoke LP copy signed by Harrison. One Apricity Deluxe track, 75BPM, premiered exclusively via q on CBC Radio One, where Harrison delivered a live set and interview alongside Montreal-based artist, Daniela Andrade, who appears on Apricity single, Better. Watch the full segment here.
