STARS have revealed another chilling new single “Are You With Me?”. The song was produced by Kevin Drew (Broken Social Scene, Gord Downie) and mixed by Marcus Paquin (Hey Rosetta!, The National) and the track is the latest in a succession of new music including “One Day Left” and “Ship To Shore that has followed the band’s latest album release, There Is No Love In Fluorescent Light which is available world-wide on Last Gang Records / eOne.

My favourite STARS songs are the graveyard tunes,” said track producer Kevin Drew. “They are exceptional at capturing the drama and reality of losing someone while trying to save them at the same time. It was an honour to finally work with them.”

STARS noted, “It finally felt like the right moment to make music with someone who we consider family, and that person is Kevin Drew. Kev has always helped us with records; by sequencing the songs on Set Yourself on Fire, for example, or just through being an encouraging and supportive ear. But to work on a song with him reminded us all of what a beautiful person and brave artist he is, and why someone like Gord Downie trusted him to interpret his last music. Speaking of Gord, the words to this song came about after Torq spent one liquidy night sending text messages to Gord’s old cell phone number. It’s very difficult not to miss that guy, and sometimes you just want to send a message into the ether and hope he receives it. We’ve always used songs to communicate with ghosts. If you can think of a better method, let us know. We have a lot of ghosts we want to talk to…”

Since its release, There Is No Love In Fluorescent Light has earned ‘Best of ‘ accolades from Pitchfork’s Best Albums of 2017 Reader’s Poll, Under the Radar, Exclaim, Now Magazine, CBC, The Needle Drop, A.Side, WFUV, among others, and earned rave reviews from outlets including The AV Club, Magnet, All Music, Relix, PopMatters, and more. The band has played sold-out shows and festival stages across North America and beyond, including Brooklyn’s Rough Trade, LA’s Masonic Lodge at Hollywood Forever Cemetery, and Toronto’s The Great Hall, always connecting with their rapturous audiences that sing along to every song, along the way.
